Welcoming and beginning

This was a marker of the official start to the school year. A speech was made in Te Reo Maori by our new Director of Religous Studies, Mr Brendan Bergin and students Ezra and Eligah Unoi. Waiata in Te Reo Maori, English and Tongan were sung in response.

160 new students, 6 new staff and 100 parents walked to the Pae Pae ( speaking area ) and were challenged by a phemonenol performance of our school haka, ‘Tama Tu’ ( Boys Stand Up)

Thanks to Mrs Linda Paki who performed Te Kai Karanga – the call to the Paepae and St Dominic’s student, Maddie Swann, who performed Te Kai Whakaatu, the response.

Officiating were our Liston College Senior Leadership Team and Kaumatua: Warahi Paki, Tamaoho, Waikato Tainui me Linda Paki, Te Taou, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara me Te Kawerau a Maki.

Hongi and Kai sealed the wairua of new beginnings.
